SNAKE RIVER BREWING COMPANY WINS 3 MEDALS AT THE GREAT AMERICAN BEER FESTIVAL

Jackson Hole, WY * October 13, 2007 – Snake River Brewing Company once again returned victorious, earning three medals from the 26th annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF) held in Denver, Colorado.   The GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today.  Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded in 75 beer-style categories on October 13th in Denver, Colorado.

Snake River Brewing was recognized for a GOLD MEDAL in the Foreign Style Stout beer style category for its ZONKER STOUT.  This deep, dark, Pennzoil 10-30W beer has garnered 5 Gold and Silver medals in previous GABF competitions.  The Zonker Stout is a Jackson Hole favorite amongst locals and has a dedicated tap in the brewpup for their patrons.

Snake River Brewing was recognized for a SILVER MEDAL in the Rye Beer Style category for its ROCK CHUCK RYE from their facility in Lander, WY.  This is the second GABF medal for the Rockchuck Rye and Lander Brewmaster, Paul Granthem.  The Rockchuck Rye is a mahogany colored brew with a clean dry finish and can be found on tap at the Snake River Brewery in Lander, Wyoming.

Snake River Brewing was recognized for a BRONZE MEDAL in the Pale Mild Ale style category for its SNAKE RIVER PALE ALE, a clean light refreshing brew that has won 2 previous medals from the GABF.  Another fantastic brew that is dry hopped during its conditioning, giving the beer a big floral aroma, subtle bitterness and citrus undertones.

The 2007 GABF winners were selected by an international panel of brewing experts from an impressive field of 2,382 entries received from 474 U.S. breweries.  “The Great American Beer Festival is the premier judging event for the American craft beer industry,” says Nancy Johnson, Festival Director.

“Receiving any medal from this intense national competition is tough” states Head Brewer, Cory Buenning.  “The fact that we received medals from both of our Wyoming brewery locations in Jackson Hole and Lander, really shows that our beers are world-class.”  Chris Erickson, Director of Brewery Operations adds “since Snake River opened our brewery back in 1994, we have been the most award-winning microbrewery in America, with 22 medals from the GABF, along with being honored as the Small Brewery and Brew Master of the Year in 2000 and 2001.”
